1884 A. J. L. McTeer, et al. v. Richard LeBow et al. Blount Breach of Trust William M. Jeffries died during the Civil War, leaving his widow, & his daughter Ruth M. McTeer. The widow then married Joseph Miller, & Miller was legally bonded as Ruth's guardian. Ruth rec'd pension from her father's death; Miller handled her money. Ruth married A. J. L. McTeer, however, the court failed to make Miller renew his bond. Miller squandered her money, was ordered to turn repay her, however he was insolvent. East Range: 5

W. Broyles for the purchase of 1/2 interest in a tract of land near Maryville known as the McCoy Mill. Cate alleged there was never any payment on the note or interest and sued for the debt. 1881 A. P. Chapman v. C. J. Cates, Trustee et al. Blount Petition for Injunction Cate was trustee of James W. Everett and D. N. Broyles. Chapman purchased a one half interest in a tract of land from Everett and Broyles. He made payment of multiple note for the property and built added-value structures to the tract. The defendants transferred the notes to Cates as trustee who recovered judgments against the plaintiff for the recovery of the amounts due. Chapman requested an injunction to prevent the collection of the judgments, which he claimed were unjust and a delivery of deed. East Range: 18

1879 C. B. and Margaret Davis v. J. R. Colter and R. Keble Blount Nuisance In, 1873 C. B. Davis purchased from A. D. Knox a tract of land located in the 13th Civil District of Blount County, Tennessee. Plaintiffs later brought suit complaining that the defendants built a damn which caused the Little Ellijoy [?] Creek to back water onto said land and damage their mill. 1877 W. D. McGinley trustee et al. v. Henry H. Stephens et al. Blount Foreclosure Additional defendants: David Chandler and John Brown. Additional plaintiffs unknown. Stephens executed a trust deed to the plaintiff conveying a tract of land in the 11th District of Blount County containing 62 acres. Said deed was made to secure payment of a notes made by Stephens to David Chandler and John Brown. 1877 Spencer Donaldson v. State Blount Murder Donaldson wasaccused of Murdering Priscilla Gregory and her unborn child with a hoe. Priscilla and Donaldson were neighbors, and Priscilla had been at the Donaldson home on the day of her murder. Priscilla was 17 years old at the time of her death and described as being mulatto. It is suggested that Donaldson impregnated Priscilla and murdered her to hide their relationship. The casefile notes that Priscilla and her family had moved to Blunt County from Knoxville after the Civil War. East Range: 20

1877 Samuel McKenry/McKinry v. John W. Norton Blount Libel Plntff. McKenry states that on 23 Oct. 1875 the deft. maliciously published a "libel" in which he accused McKenry of stealing two mares worth about $50 each from him, & that the mares were later found in McKenry's possesion. The libel resulted in a warrant being issued for the plntff.'s arrest for the crime of larceny. The plntff. claims that the scandal has ruined his good name & demands $10,000 as recompense. 1877 S. Cohn v. Toland & Cowan, et al. Blount Debt Other defendants: George W. Toland; Henry Cowan; V. Burger; Simon Burger; Elijah Atkins (Knox Co. circuit court clerk). Toland & Cowan were owners of company of the same name. Suit was against the business & them as individuals. They were "commission merchants" living in Philadelphia, Pa. Plaintiff sent them a large shipment of produce for them to sell. They sold the produce but not give plaintiff all of the proceeds. Plaintiff claimed the amount still owed was $1495.60. 1875 A. J. Ish v. John C. Chiles, et al. Blount Land and Title Dispute Additional defendant: James Henry. Chiles and Henry were eventually named admrs. of the estate of John Henry. Land from the estate was sold/auctioned under the administration of Chiles and Henry. It was during this sale which Ish purchased a significant portion of the land, then found Chiles and Henry to be selling further subplots within Ish's purchased plot of land.
