Craig Company and was injured during employment claiming fault and negligence on company. He sued for damages of $20,000 and claimed employer failed to give proper Workmen's Compensation. 1930 Frank Abbott, in error v. U. S. Aluminum Company, in error Blount Petition for Compensation Plaintiff was employed by U. S. Aluminum Company. Plaintiff alleged that while working, he injured his back by lifting a heavy table. He said he was treated by a physician, but was later injured again while using a wrench to loosen a tap. He claimed that he was discharged for being disabled after this incident. Plaintiff filed petition to be compensated for his injuries under the Workmen's Compensation Law. 1930 Doak Mason & John Calcio v. State Blount Robbery Doak Mason and John Calcio were charged with Robbery for taking the payroll of the Rockford Manufacturing Company in the amount of $1586.15. Carl Koella and his sister Elizabeth had withdrawn the payroll from the Maryville Bank and were on their way to the Rockford Manufacturing Company when a Ford car pulled ahead of them. 1930 Charlie Weeks v. William Prater, et al. Blount Other Charlie Weeks rented land from William Prater & his wife, O. B. Prater(additional defendant), via verbal contract. Per contract defendants were to furnish land for wheat and corn totaling 75 acres as well as a house, pasture, tools, stock, etc. Weeks & his son were to work for the Praters in return & did so but after some time defs. refused to furnish Weeks w/ stock, tools, etc. & ordered them away, threatened them with the Ku Klux, & personal injury. 1930 C. H. Hoffman, in error v. Flora McNeilly, in error Blount Damages McNeilley accused Hoffman of hitting her with his car while she was walking on the side of the road. She claimed that it knocked her down and dragged her body which caused considerable mangling and disfiguring to her body. 1930 Andrew Davis, et al., in error v. O. K. Spears, in error Blount Damages Additional plaintiffs: Mrs. Andrew Davis and Lloyd Cupp. Spears filed plea of debt from damages for Davis and Cupp negligently running their automobile into his automobile. Spears claimed the damages amounted to $500. Ms. Blazier testified that Cupp gave no indication that he was going to cross the road and struck the car. Davis and Cupp appealed the verdict. 1929 William P. Stevenson v. Union Indemnity Co. Blount Breach of Bond Com had held a bond with the Motor Finance & Guaranty Corp. in which he gave them $10,000 for use in their buisness in exchange for stock in said corporation. He then learned that said corp. gave said money to its agents and officers for their private uses, which constituted a breach of bond. Com had received judgement against said corp. in no. 1324 Stevenson v. Motor Finance & Guaranty Corp., for the full $10,000. 1929 M. D. Arnold, Jr. v. E. F. Ames Blount Fraud Defendant claimed to the complainant that he had an option to buy a 300 acre farm for $50,000 and offered to partner with the complainant to purchase said farm. Complainant agreed, believing in defendant's good reputation, paying 3/4 of the first payment and agreeing to pay 3/4 of future payments. He later learned the defendant was able to buy said land for $40,000 instead, defrauding the complainant of the difference. Complainant sued for $7500 to recover 3/4 of the defendant's profit. 1929 Little River Railroad Company v. Boyd D. Dotson Blount Damages for Wrongful Death Deceased: Joe McCaulley. Defendant, as administrator of the deceased's estate, originally sued the complainant for $25,000 in damages. Defendant claimed that due to the negligence of the complainant's agents a rail car was thrown from the tracks and crushed the deceased against a wall, killing him. 1928 The Union National Bank v. P. A. Waters, et. al. Blount Non-payment of Bank Note Bank filed suit against the defendants to collect on a note for $1499.45 including principal, interest, and attorney's fees. Complainant alleged said note was executed by the defendants to the Gibson Construction Co., and that they acquired it after the company was declared bankrupt. 1928 State ex. rel the City of Alcoa, et. al. v. Mrs. W. Y. C. Hannum, et. al. Blount Tax Collection Suit was part of a consolidated case to collect on 1922 delinquent real estate taxes. Hannum is listed in the docket with a debt of $293.64 on her 80 acres of land that were assessed by Blount County. The suit sought a lien for the full amount of tax plus interest, penalties & cost. They sought to enforce the lien by selling defendants' land for cash to pay the sum. Court ruled Hannum's farm was excluded from assessment under the Private Acts. Add.Defendant: Joe Ambern. 1928 Southern Railway Company, et. al. v. C. A. Fishburn, admr. Blount Damages for Wrongful Death Original bill was filed by C. A. Fishburn as admr. of estate for Walter Fishburn (deceased) & for the benefit of his widow Emily to collect $20,000 in damages for wrongful death. Walter was driving over a railroad crossing when a train belonging to the co mpanies came across and struck him. He suffered severe injuries & death. The companies appealed. 1927 Schlosser Leather Company v. John C. Gillespie Blount Land and Title Dispute Complainant purchased a tract of land suitable for the location of it's tannery. Near the tannery there was a large and valuable bank of sand upon the Little River. The defendant lived on the opposite side of the river. Complainant charged defendant with trespassing upon the bank and taking sand. Complainant sought injunction, a decree setting up ownership, right, title, claim, and possession to tract of land, and an account for value of sand taken from the bank of the river from defendant, etc. East Range:

1927 O. L. Henderson v. State Blount Murder, 2nd degree Henderson was accused of deliberately and maliciously assaulting Wrev Allison with a loaded pistol & with malice aforethought killing & murdering him. Henderson was an insurance agent in Alcoa & at the home of Griggs to collect a weekly insurance premium. Allison worked to collect on accounts for the Davis Motor Company, & arrived to collect from Henderson. While there, Henderson shot Allison "on account of the vile epithet which deceased had called him". Henderson was sentenced 15 years & tried to appeal. East Range:
