Turner | Montgomery | Damages | Turner bought a ticket to take the evening train at Gutherie for Clarksville but decided to wait until the morning. When he presented his ticket to the conductor while on the train the next day, the conductor told him it was not for that day and invalid. Turner refused to exit the train and was "put off." 1893 | W. A. Shippey v. W. L. Killebrew | Montgomery | Debt | Killebrew was a Greenville, Mississippi based contractor hired by Harvey and Scott to complete work on a levy on the Mississippi River. Shippey was a subcontractor under Killebrew. Killebrew brought suit seeking payment for completing agreed upon work when Shippey was unable as well as payment for money loaned. 1893 | The William Gerst Brewing Co. v. C. D. Bailey County Court Clerk | Montgomery | Debt | Authorities assessed a privilege tax against the plaintiff for maintaining a local agency for the sale and delivery of beer. For this tax a distress warrant was issued and the plaintiff paid the tax under protest. Plaintiff then commenced this suit to recover the taxes paid.
